After all the drama surrounding Covid settled down in 2022, I entered a new season of life, started reweaving, cutting up, and revising stories I had already written, and birthed a new series, An Odyssey of Hope.

I captured a new vision as I began to grasp how I was called to write my story to a new audience with a new author “voice.”

I had struggled with faith throughout my life. Sometimes, it burned bright, other times the light dimmed, sometimes it went out totally leaving me in total darkness.

Such a time happened in 1968 as I looked up at the cross I was carrying as an altar boy at a funeral and crossed the threshold of losing my childhood faith at the age of 12.

• The silence of God: After fervent prayer goes unanswered, faith’s outward form remains while the inner trust fractures—“a silence that hardened in me like winter ice.”

This series is told with my authentic Catholic voice with evangelical overtones. But most of all as a witness to how we all can rise beyond hope.
